Clarksville-Montgomery County Long-Term Relief Group Announces
$1M Grant from The Frist Foundation

Grant will help fund ongoing relief efforts to tornado survivors impacted in December 2023

The Frist Foundation has awarded a $1,000,000 grant to Clarksville-Montgomery County Long-Term Recovery Group (CMC-LTRG), in which United Way of Greater Nashville (UWGN) is the fiscal sponsor.  The grant will help with the ongoing effects of the December 2023 tornadoes.

In 2023, United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region, which consists of Montgomery, Stewart and Houston counties, merged with UWGN. This expanded the UWGN service region to nine counties.

The Foundation understands that as the UWGN footprint expands, so does the number of neighbors in need, especially during disaster.

The Frist Foundation’s commitment to disaster work over the last four years helped informed its decision to donate.  The Foundation understands that disasters don’t hold to county lines.

“While this significant investment will help support more case managers, home rebuilds/repairs, and miscellaneous unmet needs, there is still $2-3 million more that is needed to help the community fully recover. We hope this donation encourages others to invest in the recovery efforts,” said Lori Shinton, Chief Volunteerism Officer at United Way of Greater Nashville and CMC-LTRG Chair.
