United Way of Greater Nashville announces Lori Shinton as Interim Director in Clarksville-Montgomery County

Feb 7, 2025 | News

UWGN’s Chief Volunteerism Officer Lori Shinton will temporarily fill the role of Director of Clarksville-Montgomery County. She is a native Clarksville resident and since the Hands On merger with UWGN, she was able to immediately lead relief efforts after the December 2023 tornados. She also founded the Clarksville-Montgomery County Long-Term Recovery Group in 2024, which has been vital for survivors over the last year.

She was also instrumental in standing up the recent Hands On Clarksville volunteer site that connects volunteers looking to serve the community with agencies needing assistance.

In this interim role, Shinton will focus on the following: Strategic Assessment, Funding, Donor giving, and Volunteerism/Advocacy.

United Way strives to create a model for how we engage and provide services that could be replicated in other counties across our footprint. Shinton will drive this strategy and will be a part of the recruiting efforts to fill the role permanently.

During this period of growth, UWGN has merged with United Way in Dickson, Robertson, Williamson (Hickman), Montgomery (Stewart, Houston), creating a nine-county footprint. While each community has its own unique needs, a stronger impact is made through coordinated, concentrated efforts of neighboring United Ways and partner agencies.

“As a valued member of our team, Lori brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to our community’s growth. In this interim capacity, she will continue to build on our shared mission to unite the community and mobilize resources so that every child, individual and family thrives,” says O’Neal Wiggins, Wiggins Medical Transit and UWGN Board Member.

“As a member of this community, I’ve seen firsthand the impact of UWGN, and I’m honored to step into this role to help carry that work forward. This organization means so much to our neighbors, and I’m committed to ensuring we continue to serve, support, and uplift those who rely on us. Together, we’ll keep making a difference.,” said Shinton.
